Pedroza WAS past his best, but was NOT "past it"
he put in an incredible performance on this night but Barry would not be denied

I remember watching this on BBC, fight was at Loftus Rd. Great night for Irish boxing

I don't think Pedroza would've knocked Barry out if they had met "a few short years earlier" At the time of this fight Pedroza hadn't knocked anyone out in a championship fight in 4 years.....

Barry was a cracking fighter - another great talent screwed over by shadey management. You dont put an Irish manin the Las Vegas summer sun and expect him to fight that way - in an normal arena he would have demolished cruz. I think this was a huge roadblock in what would have been a greater career - still fair play to ye barry! Always a champ!

THANKYOU FOR POSTING THIS CLASSIC FIGHT.
I was 10 when this took place and the McGuigan fight-nights were memorable, especially with his dad singing "Oh Danny Boy" in the ring prior to the action.
Of course, there were better featherweights before and after, but none with more heart. Fearless.

SRL was out of the ring for effectively 5 years before fighting Hagler at the age of 31 and put on a fantastic display and beat the top PFP fighter of the day. Pedroza was active and in great condition when he fought Barry and boxed beautifully however was beaten by a fighter with too much of a desire to win. I was at the fight and was in no doubt who would win as I am familiar with Barry's training regime and what he put in prior to the fight.I can assure you I know what I am talking about.
