adwords abuse

Back

There has been a recent explosion in abuse of AdWords, Google's PPC (pay per click) advertising platform. It is apparent that the techniques do not follow Google's own clear guidelines. Unfortunately, users and legitimate advertisers pay the price, while Google and the unscrupulous advertisers profit.

Google has always put its users first and one would hope that they will continue to abide by their charter. My aim with this video is to urge them to do something about these issues sooner rather than later.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what the fuss is all about. On the users' end, nobody points a gun at them and forces them to click on ads. They click because they are interested in what an ad has to offer. On the advertisers' end, they are willing to pay for peaple clicking on their ads. Sites - any sites, be it Google itself or an "ads-only" landing page - only increases the chance that the two ends meet. So please let economy run its course and don't try to interfere.

you misunderstand the issue. People are clicking JUST to get fees. They have no interest in the product.

There is a limit to how many times people can click (or ask their friends to click) on their own ads, and Google catches many of those "self-clicks" anyhow. The vast majority of clicks on Adwords ads is still done by people who have a genuine interest in what the ads have to offer.

Great investigative reporting piece. Adsense arbitrage is still happening today and is widely taught as a make money strategy by "experts". Ultimately resulting in Adword bid prices getting more expensive for legitimate advertisers.

search "forklift" today and the same problem exists...one ad on the first results page is false, and clicking on "more sponsors" link you find that most of the ad results are false.

Email you or email Google?!

If you wanna help then start a petition, or something.

Most people know Google's full of crap but we can't do anything about it, emailing them probably won't get a response. To get support you need to make it easy for people to participate (in putting pressure on G).

I take the approach of taking money from these idiots - click the PPC ads and if you see it's full of crap just hit back and don't click their ads.

It's pretty obvious that those who are being clearly abusive towards what you've created are likely the ones that are actually benefiting from creating Google spam. Perhaps they should consider getting a legitimate job.

What is it then,.
